Privacy Policy - FAQ

This is an overview and may have some (unintentional!) omissions. For the full text, see "The Legal Part" below

To opt out, tap Settings, scroll to General, then scroll down and unselect "Send anonymous usage info." Note: ad networks in the free app (Microsoft, Google, etc.) may still collect info. To opt out of these, buy the full app.

What do you collect and why?

All information we collect is anonymous, except if you decide and send us email or sign up as a translator with your email. Then we know that email. Our estimate is that we collect on average 200 times less information by volume compared to other services.

We don't collect your geographic location, even though it means we can't see if there's an issue specific to a geographic region and we get less money from ads. We do our best to not allow ad networks collect it either.

How do you handle and protect my information?

We would rather not have someone's information than have it publicly available, even though it's completely anonymous.

The anonymous information collected by us (not third party ad providers, that we can't control directly) is sent over a secure channel with military-grade encryption to a secure server, which never saves it to disk. This means if the server shuts down, we don't receive information. To our knowledge, only Nokola's computer has permissions to get the information, and only while the server is running. About 5 seconds after receiving the information it is:

What if I want to delete my information collected?

Please let us know in email to sunny at datcompany dot com. Unfortunately, we don't have a way to identify which information is yours in order to delete it without substantial help from you. We'll have to create a new app update just for you, which you'd have to run, then send us a random-looking string which is your phone's anonymous ID. Then we'll be able to identify which information is yours and delete it.

What's in it for me?

These are some of the benefits for you, should you keep sending us anonymous information:
